I've watched a lot of Mystery Science Theater 3000, including many of the ones often voted the best. But for my money, "Bride of the Monster" is one of the very best. Of course, being an Ed Wood movie (as was "Plan 9 From Outer Space") there's a lot of good built-in material. Bela Lugosi is the star (the enormous Tor Johnson also appears in this one), and as with Plan 9 worst director nominee Ed Wood, Jr. replaces him with a stunt double near the end of the movie. This time the double is obviously wearing platform shoes to make him seem larger! There are other continuity errors in the movie that Joel and the robots make fun of. And the giant, lifeless, fake octopus is also a hilariously inept prop.
For some reason, which remains mysterious, Joel, Tom Servo, and Crow are really on this time. Most of their jokes are funny, and some are especially so. If you haven't seen MST3K before, this is a good one to start with. If you've seen a lot before, I think you'll find that this is one of the best.
